Ignite Talks have arrived on the Sunshine Coast
Impact Presentations are pleased to be a licensed organiser for Ignite Talks on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
What are Ignite Talks?
An Ignite event is a series of five-minute presentations. Speakers provide 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds, resulting in a fast-paced talk that is loaded with ideas. As the Ignite slogan states “Enlighten us, but make it quick”
Started in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre PettisIgnite has become an international phenomenon. Ignite events are produced in Helsinki, Tunisia, Paris, New York City and over 350 other locations in between. Ignite’s mission is “Everyone Speaks”. We believe that public speaking builds confidence in individuals and that events like Ignite build community. Our goal is to make it possible for anyone, anywhere, to learn to present their ideas and their stories.
Ignite is also about having fun, and showing that presentations don’t need to be about “death by PowerPoint”.

"The Showing Up Award"
When my kids started school they would come home with a ribbon for just about everything, it was interesting. One child was buoyed by it, the other sceptical and the youngest feels unworthy as everyone got one. Started me thinking about what happens when you show up. Life will throw curve balls, I’ve juggled many interesting and challenging curve balls like most people in life who have lived a colourful time to 46 years, when you continue to show up something changes, when the proverbial hits the fan it’s what you do next that truly counts.
'Energy - The Missing Link'
That there is a glaring problem within the standard medical model of health recovery and healing from chronic illness… it is the reason that people experience recurring serious illness and why chronic illness is reaching epidemic levels in our society. the Mind-Body connection is a limited and incomplete view of a whole person. There are actually THREE domains across which attention must be given for healing to take place. The first two are the MIND, and the BODY… third is ENERGY. Without an understanding and mastery of this area of an individual, we are not addressing the root causes and underlying patterns of disease and dis-harmony within the Mind-body. A person can not recover from illness effectively or in a sustainable way without paying attention and using techniques and tools to heal our Energy.
'The Dementia Tsunami'
There are more than over 400,000 Australians living with dementia and this is expected to increase to over 540,000 by 2025. As members of the community and businesses we will need to shift in how we respond to the needs of these people living with dementia because the majority of them will be living within the community. Many families stop going out in public altogether, for fear of embarrassment or rejection. They feel the need to protect their loved ones with dementia from the criticism of strangers, who may not know or may not understand dementia behaviours. Families may find unbearable the anxiety of being in a social setting, not knowing which dementia-related behaviour will show up next, and what unpleasant reaction will follow. They give up on this part of their social lives, isolating themselves and further withdrawing into a small world dominated by dementia.
'Hope and Healing to the Forgotten Poor'
In many developing countries in Africa, even basic medical care is a luxury. People are plagued by preventable disease, untreated illnesses and neglected injuries. Even a simple toothache can become a life-threatening crisis. Nearly 50 percent of the people have no access to a hospital or doctor. Children, teens, adults and the elderly suffer and die every day from curable or treatable causes. A staggering 6.6 million children under the age of five died in 2012 from treatable diseases. A dream becomes reality saving lives and dignity.

Is it possible to provide care and love to someone you don’t really enjoy being around? What if they are racist, creepy or have overwhelming body odour? I will share from personal experience of almost two decades of Nursing how to relate to and care for ALL people, even those who seem impossible to like. Perhaps it could even be the answer to World Peace?

Most people dread the thought of being Dyslexic. I struggled along life’s journey with dyslexia until I discovered what many think is a disability I now believe has been given to me as a gift.
